200,000+ Docker Hub Pulls

The official WiseMapping image has passed 200,000 cumulative pulls — 50,000 of them in the five months since the last milestone.

The official WiseMapping Docker image (wisemapping/wisemapping) has crossed 200,000 cumulative pulls, up from 150,000 in April 2026. Across the server, frontend and desktop repositories the project now counts more than 340 GitHub stars and 90 forks. The 6.0.10 release restored ARM64 images, so self-hosting on Apple Silicon, AWS Graviton and Raspberry Pi works natively again — if you held off upgrading past 5.x for that reason, 6.x is now multi-arch. Thank you to everyone who deploys, contributes, files issues and spreads the word.

Find in Map, Shareable Node Links & Keyboard Reordering

Ctrl/⌘ + F searches every node in a map, topics can be rearranged without the mouse, and any single node now has its own shareable link.

The editor gains a search panel: press Ctrl/⌘ + F and every node matching what you type is listed, highlighted and reachable — Enter and Shift + Enter step through matches, clicking a result closes the panel and leaves you on the node ready to edit. "Copy link to node" in the toolbar produces a link that opens the map with one specific node revealed and centred, which is the easiest way to point a colleague at a single branch of a large map. Rearranging a map no longer requires dragging: Alt + Shift + ↑/↓ moves a topic among its siblings and Alt + Shift + ←/→ outdents or indents it, each move counting as a single undo step, and Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + V pastes copied topics as children of the selected one. Canvas navigation now matches other diagramming tools — a two-finger swipe pans, and zooming moves to the wheel with Ctrl, ⌘ or Alt held. Alongside the features: dialogs and the selected map-list item render with their intended borders and colours in both light and dark mode, selecting a single topic no longer fires focus and blur at once, and the zoom readout keeps updating after a map loads. The web application also gained its first unit-test harness and an automated accessibility scan, bringing the project past 600 unit tests.

WiseMapping 6.0.10: Java 25, ARM64 Images & MariaDB Support

Multi-architecture Docker images are back, the runtime moves to Java 25 LTS, MariaDB becomes a first-class database, and two CVEs are patched.

Multi-architecture publishing has been restored: both wisemapping/wisemapping and the API image are built for linux/amd64 and linux/arm64 again, so 6.x runs natively on Apple Silicon, AWS Graviton and Raspberry Pi — ARM64 had been dropped when the release pipeline moved to GitHub Actions, leaving 5.x as the last multi-arch release. The build and both runtime images move from Java 24 to Java 25 LTS; Java 24 stopped receiving updates in September 2025, so neither JVM nor Alpine patches were reaching the published containers. MariaDB is now supported first-class, with the native JDBC driver and dialect, dedicated schema-mariadb.sql / data-mariadb.sql seed files and a ready-to-run Docker Compose overlay. Two vulnerabilities are patched: CVE-2026-45292 in OpenTelemetry (the whole io.opentelemetry family is now governed by an imported BOM, rather than drifting onto the Spring Boot parent’s vulnerable 1.55.0) and CVE-2026-71497 in jsoup. Issue #69 normalised database identifiers and data types across MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL and HSQLDB so deployments on case-sensitive Linux filesystems behave identically to macOS and Windows, and issue #70 fixed the 6.0.8 image failing at startup — the container now uses tini as PID 1 instead of the broken Alpine supervisor, removing Python from the runtime image entirely. Spring Boot moves to 4.1.1, and Arabic joins the server-side message bundles with fully localized error messages and email templates.

Next-Gen Desktop App with Local + Cloud — Looking for Feedback

A proof-of-concept for a unified WiseMapping desktop app that combines offline-first local files with cloud sync. We want to hear if this is worth pursuing.

We've been exploring what a single, modern WiseMapping client could look like — and we've built a proof of concept. Despite the repository name, "wisemapping-mobile" is really a Tauri-based desktop app first (macOS, Windows, Linux), with iOS and Android targets sharing the same codebase. The novelty is the storage model: every map is either Cloud (synced through your wisemapping.com account) or Local (a plain .wxml file under ~/Documents/WiseMapping/, fully offline). Drag a card from one side of the sidebar to the other and the map is moved or copied accordingly. The build picks up exactly where wisemapping-desktop left off (offline) and where the web app stops (cloud), unifying both. Before we commit to maintaining yet another client, we want to hear from the community: would you use this? Is local + cloud in one app the right shape, or should the two stay separate? Open an issue or discussion on GitHub and let us know.

Security Hardening & Icon Picker Improvements

OAuth token encryption, PII-free server logs, a secure link-based reset-password flow, icon picker search, AI-themed icons, and remembered canvas position.

Shipped across the 6.0.8 to 6.0.10 releases, this work brings significant security and usability improvements across the stack. On the backend, OAuth tokens are now encrypted to prevent token leakage and personally identifiable information — email addresses and names — has been stripped from all server logs and metrics; log statements reference internal user IDs instead, metrics collection is disabled by default and operators must explicitly opt in. The reset-password flow has been replaced with a secure link-based mechanism using time-limited signed tokens; clicking the link opens a dedicated reset form, eliminating replay and enumeration attacks. On the frontend, the icon picker gains full-text search and a "Frequently Used" section for faster discovery, a new set of AI-themed icons has been added to the icon panel, and the editor now remembers your last scroll and zoom position between sessions. Arabic (RTL) translations were added across the editor and webapp, and the frontend migrated to @tanstack/react-query v5.

150,000+ Docker Hub Pulls: Community Milestone

WiseMapping has crossed 150,000 Docker Hub pulls, a milestone that reflects the growing adoption of self-hosted, privacy-first mind mapping.

As of April 2026, the official WiseMapping Docker image (wisemapping/wisemapping on Docker Hub) has crossed 150,000 cumulative pulls. The open-source project, first released in 2007, continues to grow its self-hosted community: every pull is a team, company, or individual who chose to run WiseMapping on their own infrastructure rather than rely on a third-party service. Alongside the Docker milestone, the GitHub repositories have reached 250+ stars and 70+ forks across the server, frontend, and desktop codebases. Thank you to everyone who deploys, contributes, files issues, and spreads the word — this project is community-driven and these numbers are yours.

WiseMapping 6.0.7: Production Hardening & GDPR Compliance

Critical JWT security fix, GDPR-compliant consent management, automated CI/CD release tagging, and Vite 8 upgrade.

Version 6.0.7 addresses a critical security vulnerability: the default JWT signing secret was committed to the public repository, allowing anyone to forge valid tokens for any user. The app now detects the default secret at startup and requires operators to provide their own via APP_JWT_SECRET. The Spring Security filter chain has been split into a stateless JWT chain for /api/** and a stateful chain for web and OAuth2 endpoints, enabling independent authentication policies per surface. On the compliance front, direct AdSense script injection has been replaced with Google Funding Choices CMP for GDPR-compliant consent handling. The frontend build pipeline upgrades to Vite 8 with native HTML transforms, Storybook 10.3, and the latest MUI components. The CI/CD pipeline now automatically creates and pushes git tags on every published Docker image, ensuring every release is traceable to an exact source snapshot.
